14 million copies of Red Dead Redemption shipped worldwide

Take-Two Interactive has announced that Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption has reached a new milestone as one of the most successful western action games in gaming history.

According to publisher's "Shareholder Outreach August 2015" document Red Dead Redemption has now shipped 14 million copies (sold to stores) worldwide. The document notes that the game has "rejuvenated the western entertainment genre" while also having a "commercially successful" expansions.

A sequel to Red Dead Redemption has not been officially announced, but speculations have started to circle around it. For example the original developer Rockstar San Diego currently is seeking 42 new people for various positions on their careers page. Additionally the sequel has repeatedly been among the most fan-requested games from Rockstar.
