A somewhat confused report at ABC News reveals that:

"Police in SeaTac, Wash., are asking for help in tracking down thieves who they said stole $2 million worth of Nintendo Wii gaming consoles. The thieves managed to get away with 7,000 portable Wii gaming consoles after raiding a warehouse at SeaTac's Seattle Air Cargo."

Now portable Wii gaming consoles sounds strange, but even stranger is the fact that the article goes on to talk about the Wii U and how it retails for $300. A figure that rhymes with the $2 million figure mentioned in the article, however the police release says that number includes the vehicles stolen in the heist. It also seems strange that Nintendo would fly in Wii units at this points - whereas the in demand Wii U would be flown in to hungry Christmas shoppers. Kotaku reached out to the Sheriff's office who confirmed it was indeed Wii U units that had been stolen.

Nintendo have yet to comment on the spectacular heist that saw thieves use forklift trucks to shift the large containers. Regardless, they're going to have a difficult time selling 7000 units of Wii or Wii U without drawing attention to themselves.
