Apex Legends has made Titanfall 2 more popular again

Player numbers have been boosted after the arrival of the spinoff battle royale title, not only on PC but on consoles as well.

Titanfall 2 was released just a few weeks after Battlefield 1 and a few weeks before Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which caused it to underperform when it came to sales. This was a big shame, as the game was and still is excellent (as we explain in our review) . Since then, Respawn has released the immensely popular Apex Legends, which is a spinoff in the Titanfall universe, and now this has led to a fairly unforeseen comeback of Titanfall 2.

An eagle-eyed user over at the ResetEra forums noticed that the PC version of the game has been played by roughly 800-1,500 concurrent players on average, but during the weekend this more than doubled as it reached 3,400.

And this applies to the consoles as well, as according to the same source the game has had more than doubled numbers for PlayStation 4 and "Xbox One had the biggest player spike, it went from having 2k-3k on the usual Saturdays to a whopping 10k pilots".

Hopefully, this all means that sooner or later we can get a proper sequel to Titantfall 2, but in the meantime, we'll settle for Apex Legends. After all, we know that we won't be getting Titanfall 3 for now, since Respawn has said that this is what they were working on.

Have you rediscovered the Titanfall series after the Apex Legends launch?
