Danish CS:GO team Astralis has revealed Audi as their new partners, with the announcement saying: "We're pretty proud of our new partner, welcome to CS:GO," an understandable statement considering Audi are a huge company.

Astralis are one of the biggest CS:GO organisations in Europe, and the biggest in Denmark, so it's no surprise that they've secured such a big partnership. Astralis co-founder and team manager Frederik Byskov praised the deal, saying: "It's fantastic news for esports and a validation of our world, that a non-endemic brand like Audi chooses to work with Astralis and Counter-Strike. I've been in esports for more than 10 years, and we only created Astralis a year ago. It's a fantastic way to celebrate the anniversary today. I'm very thankful for the work RFRSH Entertainment has put into this, making it a possibility for Astralis to enter a partnership with Audi."

Audi seem to agree that it's beneficial for both sides, as head of marketing Christian Weiglin Thorn explains: "Millennials are an incredibly hard group to reach with traditional media so we were naturally curious when we got approached by RFRSH Entertainment. We've been following esports for a while, it is a very interesting area with huge and strong demographics and looking into the numbers we saw that there actually is a substantial number of mature people within the esports audience. When we saw the setup around RFRSH Entertainment, the possibilities presented by them and the set-up they have, we chose to give it a go.The timing is perfect, we have just launched a new fantastic car, the Q2 under the campaign #untaggable. Both car and storyline is aiming at a younger audience than the normal Audi core audience and we see a good match to esports. So when we got the chance to work with the current ranked #1 in the world starting with the World Championship of Counter-Strike, The Eleague Major next week, we jumped onboard and are extremely excited to see what the future will bring and how the esports community will receive Audi."

This will no doubt be good news for both sides going into the Eleague Major, where Astralis are competing for their chance to win the coveted trophy. Do you see more big names sponsoring esports teams in the future?
