The first major of 2017 is now over, and claiming victory at Eleague was Danish team Astralis, who were many people's favourites going into the tournament considering their HLTV ranking as best in the world.

The final against Virtus Pro, which was watched by over a million viewers, wasn't short of excitement, with the whole thing starting on Nuke, Virtus Pro claiming the victory 16-12.

The second map was Overpass, however, which was much closer at 16-14 for Astralis, with Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and others ensuring the Danish team didn't exit the competition. It was all level going into the third map, then, Train, which Virtus Pro won seven rounds in a row on. The comeback was on for Astralis, though, even if Filip "NEO" Kubski of Virtus Pro was performing excellently. Eventually, the comeback turned into a victory, and Astralis won the title and the $500,000 US dollars.

Astralis' road to the final wasn't all plain sailing, nor was Virtus Pro's, as both dropped maps in the quarter and semi finals. Astralis had to face a Fnatic who had toppled a strong Gambit team in the quarter finals, after themselves facing Natus Vincere, claiming that game 2-1. Virtus Pro had to take on new team North and SK Gaming themselves, but it's of little surprise that these two favourites were in the final together.
