Blizzard has no plans for any further announcements of Diablo III at this year's BlizzCon, Community Manager Brandy Camel wrote on the official Diablo III forum. Fans should, therefore, keep their expectations low at this point, but remain hopeful as the developer is already "hard at work" with what the future may hold for the franchise

"Patch 2.6.1 is on the horizon. Looking beyond that, we're hard at work on the future of Diablo and exploring what's next for the franchise. Please be patient."

Diablo III has launched 2012 on PC and since been transformed into a totally different game with one major story expansion, two additional classes, massive changes to the loot system, and seasonal challenges. With Blizzard's newest "game as a service" strategy the RPG basically evolved into a never-ending grind, but perhaps the time has finally come for Blizzard to focus on creating a sequel.

BlizzCon 2017 will take place on November 3 and 4 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
