Why we prefer the Jaguar XE?

Most manufacturers design and manufacture their cars with specific goals in mind. Luxury sedans, hatchbacks for affordable solutions, cargo vans, 2-seater coupes/supercars for performance, and large passenger cars for long trips; you will get points. 


At least it was, but over time,  manufacturers and people wanted to get something that could do 2 or more of these things at once. One of the more capable or "hybrid" sub-categories of the two is the sports sedan or sports sedan. These are perfect for blurring the line between something like a Chevy Corvette and a Honda Accord. 


Let's face it, among those who want a performance car, very few come to race days regularly. Many of us may find it difficult to live with a car that can't carry more than 2 people or more luggage than a short weekend. In this case, a sports sedan makes the most sense and BMW knows it. 


This is one of the reasons  M3 exists in the first place. The M3 has seen its fair share of competitors wearing AMG or Quadrifoglio jerseys among other things. But Jaguar wants to shake things up and come up with Jaguar XE SV Project 8.


Which one would attract more customers in the market, Jaguar XE SV Project 8 or BMW M3 CS?


To give credit when it's due, the M3 CS is a phenomenal car. Whether it's the E30 or the G80, all generations are impressive cars. The F80 is no different in this respect. Second, the M3 CS costs just under $100,000. The Jag on the other hand charged almost double! Plus, we can't ignore that the M3 is a BMW and the Project 8 is a Jaguar, so there's going to be a big difference in fit, finish and build quality. 


But like many modern BMWs, it looks a bit bland compared to the signature Jaguar and is much more interesting. Jag is also faster and stronger than  Bimmer. Jag's turbocharged V8 produces 592 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, far more than the M3 CS. The Intelligent Driveline Dynamics full-time four-wheel drive system assists the rear, so cornering is quicker but also retains some neat RWD handling tricks. 


Jaguar only produced 300 of these, so it's not only more exclusive than most other sports sedans, but it's sure to attract a second glance from passersby. Overall, the 2018 M3 CS was the most powerful M3 when it was launched, and it achieved a Nürburgring lap time of 7 minutes 38 seconds. But the Jag completed the lap in 7 minutes and 21 seconds and holds the record as the fastest 4-door car circling the Nürburgring.


Comparison among three car models

The regular XE is a good sedan with a nice exterior and a desirable interior. The fit and finish could be better, but the car still looks good. In terms of performance, there's not much room to complain, but there's certainly room for improvement. 


3 engine types available are  4-cylinder turbo,  6-cylinder supercharged, and  4-cylinder turbo diesel. The turbocharged V6 develops 340-380 hp and provides enough thrills for the sedan to be "sporty". But Jaguar wanted to create a true sports sedan with a sportier focus. 


The BMW M3 CS is a 4-door monster with a 453 hp, 443 lb-ft inline 6-cylinder engine. The 7-speed amt just sends all that power to the rear wheels, so it's also great fun! It would take more than a  300-400 hp sedan to compete with it, and that would be  AMG, N, and other powerful versions of regular sedans. 


Now to make a sports sedan, most manufacturers would take the normal sedan, tune its engine for more horsepower, add an air intake and diffuser, maybe give it a rear spoiler, make some wheels and/or brakes bigger, and add racing seating features, and call it a day. But the folks at Jaguar know that won't be enough to make it difficult for the M3 CS. 


Will XE SV Project 8 gain another opportunity in such fierce competition?

Jaguar knew what it was up to, so they went with Project 8. So much so that the hood and front door are the only identical components between the XE and Project 8! They wanted to use carbon-ceramic brakes for one, but the wheels weren't big enough, so they changed the wheels and arches to match the wheels. 


Because of this, the entire front bumper has been updated, even the headlights. The XE handled well, but they also wanted to increase the track, which is the distance between the left and right wheels. That means flared wheel arches, and that means new front and rear panels as well as new rear doors. Instead of tweaking the engine, they were fitted with a new 5-liter turbocharged V8. 


But there wasn't enough space, so they redesigned the engine compartment too! The new engine is heavier, so the bonnet and front bumper are now carbon fiber to reduce weight and lower the center of gravity. They upgraded the suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers packing rose joints. 


 The car also has ceramic bearings, like race cars. The eight-speed transmission and 4WD system are improved more strongly than the regular version, and Jaguar has also removed the spare wheel and wheel arches to make room for a rear diffuser and aero components.

Yamaha Motor Philippines' scooter sector has long been one of its strengths, as seen by the sales results year after year. Despite the motorbike brand's wide range of models, the retirement of the Fino has left some consumers yearning for a new neo-retro-style scooter.

This is the void that YMPH has now filled with the introduction of the new Mio Fazzio. The latest addition to Yamaha's roster is perhaps one of the oddest-looking scooters we've seen in recent years, and it's causing quite a stir.

The Yamaha Mio Fazzio is only available in one model in the Philippines. The single version costs P88,900. It’s not expensive in Yamaha Motorcycles Price. It is available in three different colors: cyan, red, and ivory white.

Dimensions and design

To be honest, this scooter isn't as little as it appears. It is 1820mm long, 685mm broad, and 1125mm tall. That's the same size as the standard Mio Sporty.

The Mio Fazzio features a 1,280mm wheelbase, a 750mm seat height, and a 135mm ground clearance. It has a wet weight of 95kg. It rides on 12-inch front and rear wheels wrapped in 110/70-12MC 47L tubeless tires.

Unlike its other Mio siblings, the Mio Fazzio has a distinctive appearance that almost resembles a current electric scooter. It has a spherical headlight and oval signal lights on the front. This classic oval style is carried over to the side and all of the rear lights.

Engine and specifications

The Mio Fazzio is powered by a 125cc air-cooled Blue Core Hybrid engine that produces 8.3hp at 6,500rpm and 9.9Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. This powertrain is unique in that when it comes to a halt, its power-assist feature engages for three seconds to offer additional oomph (peak torque increases to 10.6Nm) and smooth out acceleration. A smart motor generator (SMG) in the engine allows for silent engine starts and restarts.

A single disc up front and a mechanical leading trailing drum out rear manage braking. The scooter has a telescopic front fork and a unit swing rear suspension.

Additional characteristics

The Mio Fazzio includes some cool technology, including as LED headlights and an oval-shaped digital instrument cluster. The latter displays, among other things, the speedometer, fuel gauge, and trip meters. The scooter has a stop-and-start mechanism that switches the engine off automatically at complete stops, reducing total fuel usage.

The Mio Fazzio also has Y-Connect connection, which is a Yamaha-exclusive app that lets customers to connect their cellphones to their motorcycles. It tracks fuel usage and analyzes travel data, and it also provides warnings about maintenance and motorbike problems.

Other features include a 17.8-liter under seat storage compartment, two front pockets, and two carabiner hooks beneath the handlebar and seat.

Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue are the segment's experienced competitors, with fresh entries vying for victory.

It's an exciting moment to be in the market for a sub-compact SUV, with traditional behemoths Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai eager to revive a fierce competition between two of their best-selling models in the country. While other additional companies have entered the sub-compact SUV sector, including Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, and even somewhat less expensive choices like Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger, the Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue remain at the top. With both of these models receiving improvements, it might be a fierce competition that drives all others to the sidelines.

Among all Suzuki Cars 2022, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is widely regarded as the sub-compact SUV that sparked the frenzy that continues to this day for alternatives in this sector. Brezza debuted at the 2016 Auto Expo and went on sale shortly after. The vehicle was only available with a diesel engine at the time, but at the 2020 Auto Expo, the facelift model removed the diesel unit in favor of a petrol engine. Under the hood, the option to select between a petrol or a diesel engine continues, resulting in a broader target audience. However, Venue, like Brezza, has begun to seem antiquated. So far, Hyundai has sold approximately three lakh Venues.

Despite the fact that both the Venue and the Brezza look to be relatively ordinary, Hyundai has confirmed a July 16 debut date for the 2022 Venue, while Maruti will introduce the 2022 Brezza on July 30. Leaked photographs of both cars plainly show that designers spent a significant amount of time giving the two models a new look on the outside. The Venue, for example, will get a redesigned grille and a linked LED light strip between the rear tail lights. Inside, a new 10.25-inch primary infotainment screen, Bose sound system, redesigned steering wheel, and revamped center console are possible.

Brezza will also receive a slew of exterior design changes, with spy pictures confirming a modification in the grille on the front, which is now sleeker. The LED headlight units have also been updated, and for the first time, there will be a sunroof. The main infotainment screen is now higher up on the redesigned dashboard. There will also be a pop-up Head-up Display (HUD), as seen on the upgraded Baleno.

While Maruti Suzuki is likely to equip the new Brezza with a 1.5-litre Dual VTVT engine with mild hybrid technology, the Venue will continue to offer a diesel engine in addition to normally aspirated and turbo petrol engines.
