The NPD numbers for August are in, and it would seem that the growth (year-over-year) has slowed down considerably. August as always is Madden month, with EA's juggernaut selling 2.3 million in its first month.

On the hardware front Nintendo rules supreme, and it is no wonder Microsoft chose to lower the price on Xbox 360 recently, despite the fact that they were ahead of Playstation 3 again in August - HD consoles are losing the war. It is impressive to see Nintendo's ever greens Wii Fit, Mario Kart and Wii Play continue to rack up numbers bigger than most new releases.

Too Human that received a mixed bag of reviews managed to sneak into 8th place. Perhaps not what Denis Dyack and Silicon Knights had hoped for, but not a complete loss.
