COGnitive Gaming has announced via Twitter that they won't be operating next year, with the organisation thanking people for their support.

"Cognitive Gaming will cease operations on December 31, 2016. Thank you to all the fans and former players! We appreciated all of it," the tweet read.

Their last competitive player, Super Smash Bros. Melee pro Justin "Wizzrobe" Hallet, has only just confirmed that he wouldn't be re-signing for COGnitive next year, so perhaps this has something to do with the decision.

"My time with COGnitive Gaming was great," Wizzrobe said. "My boss was a super cool guy and a great friend. COGnitive Gaming has given me incredible opportunities to travel to huge tournaments and I view them as the most important step into getting to where I am today as a player."

COGnitive's social media hasn't been particularly active for a while, so it's not too surprising, but it's still sad to see them go considering their Smite team won the first ever World Championship for the game. Will you miss COGnitive Gaming?

REVIEW. Written by Johannes Leander

"Despite the cool Gods at war theme, balancing issues and clumsy matchmaking present too much of a hindrance for us to truly enjoy this MOBA title."
