Dark Souls II runs at 1080p and 60fps on PS4

Here's some great news for all players who can't wait to replay Dark Souls II, this time on new-gen consoles with Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin.

From Software's action-RPG will receive some major technical improvements, at least this have been confirmed on PS4. According to PlayStation Blog, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will be characterised by "a native 1080p resolution, upgraded lighting effects, and cinematic filters give the game a richer, cleaner look compared to the PS3 version", and an improved framerate (60 frames per second) according to Bandai Namco representatives.

All these technical improvements can be translated into a "more responsive movement and combat, a major advantage considering the game's famously unforgiving difficulty".

The improvements won't be restricted only to the technical side, but also some enemies and item locations have been changed, as the enemies now "will follow you more tenaciously, even through fog gates - a terrifying, potentially ruinous side effect of PS4s expanded RAM pool". There will be some improvements for some weapons as well: as reported on PS Blog, the well-known Fire Long Sword "seemed to be way less durable in this version", and "the weapons that were largely overlooked may be easier to find, or be adjusted in other ways".

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will land on PS4 (and on Xbox One as well) with all the DLC included (Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King, and Crown of the Ivory King) on April 2nd.
