A few weeks ago we reported that Ubisoft had acquired Freestyle Games, the studio which worked on both DJ Hero and Guitar Hero: Live. The former founders of Freestyle Games, Jamie Jackson and Dave Osborn, have now announced that they are forming a new outfit called SlingShot Cartel, which is is already working on its first two projects, one of these being an esport game that will be officially unveiled during the GDC 2017 on February.

Next to Jackson and Osborn, there will also be other Freestyle Games' former veterans, including senior execs Gareth Morrison and Jonathan Napier. This independent studio will allow them to follow each step of the game development, from the concept to publication and beyond. So, expect news on this mysterious esport game during the upcoming GDC, but also on the other game SlingShot Cartel is working on.

Do you think their venture into esports will be a successful one?
