Don't expect Alan Wake 2 anytime soon

Remedy has their plates full, and when they worked on it years ago it "just didn't pan out".

VG247 prodded Remedy, director of communications Thomas Puha about the possibility of Alan Wake 2 at the recent PAX East show in Boston.

"We were working on Alan Wake 2 years ago and it just didn't pan out, so there's nothing - we're just booked solid for the next couple of years, really. We do own the Alan Wake IP, but it's never quite as simple as that, but yeah, we do own it."

There's hope then, but at the same time a game like Alan Wake 2 requires lengthy development and if Remedy doesn't have time for in the next couple of years, well, then it probably won't be here until five years from now, if we're lucky and Remedy settles on actually developing it.

For now, Remedy is working on finishing Control (due out in August), an eerie action game that should appeal to fans of Alan Wake even if the setting is very different. Remedy is also working with Korean publisher Smilegate to provide story content for their massive hit Crossfire, which is one of the most played games in the world (particularly popular in Asia).

Would you like to see Alan Wake 2 at some point? Or would you be just as happy with Remedy developing new and original games?
