The Call of Duty League is kicking off this year as the new focal point for Call of Duty esports, and now the competition has revealed details about the structure and points of the competition, determining the regular season standings.

Starting at the launch weekend in Minneapolis on January 24 to 26, all teams earn 10 CDL points for each match they win, and League standings are determined by these points. All 12 teams in the league will play two matches on the launch weekend.

Starting in London on February 8, Home Series weekend events will also feature eight teams in a tournament bracket. These eight teams will be separated into groups of four, and the first-round matches will be decided ahead of the events, with teams who have won two matches in their group advancing to single-elimination bracket, earning 10 CDL points for each win, while the overall winner gets an extra 10 bonus points.

In terms of points for CDL Home Series weekend events, these are as follows:

1st Place - 50 CDL Points
2nd Place - 30 CDL Points
3rd/4th Place - 20 CDL Points
5th/6th Place - 10 CDL Points
7th/8th Place - 0 CDL Points

Tiebreakers will be determined by head-to-head match win percentage, game win percentage, and overall game win percentage.

Regular season points determine the eight teams for the playoffs, along with four wild card spots, who will compete in a single-elimination bracket, seeing two teams advance to face the third and fourth overall seeds to start off double-elimination brackets. Once all the dust settles, the final two teams will compete for the championship.

REVIEW. Written by Andreas Juul

"Does this make for a paradigm shift for first-person shooters? No, but it's nothing short of spectacular nonetheless."
