We caught up with Japanese indie developer Ojiro Fumoto to learn more about his intriguing falling platformer Downwell that's heading to smart devices and PC later this year.
"What I wanted to make is basically like a Spelunky kind of game for iPhones or like smart phone devices,"says Fumoto. "And I wanted to make something that you could play on a portrait mode on smartphones. So I came up with the idea of having a really vertical kind of platformer where you keep falling down. It was basically just a simple platformer with no unique mechanic, but one day I came up with the idea of having like gun boots and it turned out to be really fun. So I just kept on making the game around that system."
Ojiro Fumoto is hoping to release the game around July for Android, iOS and PC.
