There's been a vocal minority calling for female footballers to be added to FIFA for a long time now, and the question as to whether they are going to be introduced in FIFA 15 was asked at a recent event.
The question, posed by X1, was whether female leagues would be included in the next game. Here's what producer Nick Channon said:
"It's something that we've been asked quite a bit, and something we very seriously consider, but we don't have any news on it today. But it is definitely something we considered and continue to do so..."
After being pushed for an answer by the site, by suggesting that new features and systems might be a barrier to inclusion, Channon said: "No. I think it's something that we are very interested in, and something we continue to consider, obviously. But we wouldn't announce that today."
While the female half of the sport is certainly more niche than its male counterpart, it's certainly important for the sport's continuing growth to get the kind of recognition inclusion in FIFA 15 would give it. We're not sure that it is going to make an appearance in this year's iteration, but we're keeping our fingers crossed nevertheless.
