Player control, responsiveness and agility have been in focus for this title. Intelligence is another area of focus and EA Canada are taking that a little further this time around adding evolving player relations on the pitch.

"With the power of these new machines we are trying to take advantage of it," says McHardy. "For the first time ever we're modelling the emotional intelligence, attitudes and opinions of players on the pitch for all 22 guys on the pitch towards all other players on the pitch. We're storing information on them throughout the game so they have a memory of what's happening throughout the match."

While divets won't affect gameplay this year, there will be some serious pitch deformation going on.

"We've always wanted to do better things with the grass, and not just the grass. The environment, you can see the digital ad boards and having those video loops playing on the ad boards. Things that are real to the real world of football. The pitch wear specifically is a big one for me as a gameplay producer, because you see if from the telly cam when you're playing all the time. And it really grounds the player and makes the game feel a lot more like real football."

"Right now the ball doesn't react to divets. We don't have many divets and we wanted to keep it very surface level for this year. It's something we'll be considering for the future for sure, but what you dosee is marks from players as they slide tackle, you'll see the pitch tearing or streaking if you will where they slide tackle."

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"FIFA 15 is a good game, make no mistake, it's just not a great game; it looks like we're going to have to wait at least another year for that."
