After its debut in April 2013, Fire Emblem: Awakening has been slowly but surely increasing its install base. That year the game became a million seller, confirming global interest in the series, and thus becoming the best-selling game in the history of the franchise.

Now, counting up until December 2014, new sales figures show once again that Nintendo games have long legs in the market and keep performing long after launch. Fire Emblem: Awakening has now reached 1.79 million sales worldwide.

These are good numbers that will no doubt help Intelligent Systems celebrate the 25th anniversary of a franchise that continues to remain relevant. Fire Emblem's return is planned for 2016 (2015 in Japan) with a new, ambitious entry which comes in two games, Pokémon style (head here for more on that).

REVIEW. Written by Bengt Lemne

"This one of those rare games that will wrap you up completely in its world, and you will end up playing until your batteries run out."
