Little Nightmares 2 "makes outside feel claustrophobic"

Tarsier Studio's sequel takes us outdoors, but the atmosphere still very much remains, as does the tension.

Little Nightmares 2 was one of the surprise reveals during Gamescom last week, and it was at Gamescom that we talked with narrative designer Dave Mervik and producer Lucas Roussel about the sequel, that's changing things up a little bit.

"One thing that we really wanted to kind of develop, expand upon from the first game, is the amount of interactivity in the world, to really get people to engage more and explore more," Mervik said.

"We also want to emphasise about the story between the two kids, because that's going to play a very important role in the game, because the relation will start, evolve," Roussel added. "There's gonna be highs, lows - I think it's going to be something that people will really enjoy."

Not everything has changed though, as the atmosphere will still remain the same despite the different setting, as Mervik continues:

"It's outside now, so yeah of course it brings its own challenges and stuff, and I think one of the biggest challenges for us is to make outside feel as claustrophobic as possible, and I think that's a nice way to explain what we're doing. Yes, you're outside, but that doesn't really change the atmosphere and the oppressive tension."

Can this top the original?
