MyTeam is always a big part of the NBA 2K experience each year, and fans of the series will be pleased to hear that senior producer Erick Boenisch has provided an extensive post on Facebook providing a lot of detail on what MyTeam will be like in NBA 2K19, which includes a new feature set.

In terms of philosophy, there are some key changes. Firstly, packs are now tiered, giving more options when making choices, and an example used is that Throwback packs now guarantee a Throwback player in every pack, whereas they didn't last year.

Also, with regards to general content releases, the team are featuring more content this year compared to 2K18 too, all within a release schedule, providing new packs, cards, and more. What this also means is that Amethyst cards will be available for Day 1, with Diamonds available much earlier, and a Pink Diamond planned for September too.

Game modes were also discussed in the post, but to make way for these Packs & Playoffs and Supermax have been retired. MyTeam Unlimited comes in instead, a competitive online mode letting you use your best team of 13 players to take on others, offering layers of rewards in the process. You can earn MyTeam Points, free card packs, reward tokens, and Player of the Month Cards this way, and all of this happens in blocks of 12 games, the goal being to get as many wins as possible before getting three losses. Once you lose three times though, you're out and must start again, although at that point you also get awarded a prize from the Prize Board.

Those with records of 10-2 and 11-1 will receive hefty prizes, as you'd expect, but those who go 12-0 will get the exclusive Player of the Month card, changing every calendar month and obviously being high quality. They're also only available in this mode, and if you complete all the cards in this set you'll get the unique Galaxy Opal Isiah Thomas card; the best card in the system.

Triple Threat is a brand new single-player experience as well, since the developers felt 3v3 gameplay was lacking. Your goal here is to beat all 30 NBA teams, one division at a time, but before every game you can drop a ball to randomly choose who you'll play against. If you beat said team on the first time of asking, you'll get a MyTeam Points bonus, and every time you beat a division you can earn Reward Tokens.

Once all six NBA divisions are defeated, a seventh board will be revealed, an endless experience with the best prizes in this mode. This requires you to defeat the teams containing top players (the example was given of Shaq, Kobe, and Magic), and this board gives MyTeam Points, Reward Tokens, custom card packs for that mode, and exclusive limited release cards.

After every game in this mode you'll return to the prize drop experience when you can drop balls to win prizes, and there's also Triple Threat Online where you can face others. Here you go head-to-head until you have played 10 games or lost three times, and if you can make it to the tenth you can drop five balls for five prizes.

Reward Tokens, by the way, are a currency that you can use on the Reward Market to help you build up your team, allowing you to buy Emerald players to start off with, before opening up other markets.
