As the once innovative one-handed, IR-pointing, Wii Remote is 100% supported by the newer Wii U system and many of its games, the controller is still very popular in stores and Nintendo is selling Wii U-branded units and specially-branded units for some years now.

Of course coloured-Wii Remotes have been out for a while as well, with popular choices such as black, pink or red, but last year the publisher found some success with Mario-themed controllers, by selling Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi designs.

That success should have been enough to greenlight the two new versions found today at Japanese Amazon store; Bowser's green/yellow/red and Toad's white/blue/red:

Though it may seem tricky for them to reach the European market, keep in mind they're of course compatible with your current Wii or Wii U, and given recent Super Smash Bros. and Amiibo 'fever', and upcoming multiplayer and multi-character games such as Mario Party 10 (in which Bowser has a key role), don't lose all hope on a potential European launch later in the year.
