Philips filed a complaint against Nintendo in May this year, alleging that the Nintendo infringed on Philips patent 379, "Virtual Body Control Device." Philips confirmed it sent notice of the infringement to Nintendo in December 2011. In June, a court in England found that Nintendo's reasons for developing various devices and controllers for its Wii, Wii U and 3DS consoles with both motion-sensing tech and cameras in it to be unconvincing, Nintendo appealed the decision.

Today both companies announced that they have resolved the patent-feud and instead will work together in the future. The companies will "cross-license portions of each company's patent portfolio" from now on. The usual solution when to giant companies find themselves in similar positions, no financial terms of the settlement were disclosed.
