Nintendo are promising "a new kind of Mario"

Nintendo built up the hype and then really delivered with their new Zelda game at E3. However, news of a full mainstream Mario game was nowhere in sight, but apparently we might be seeing something this time next year.

In an interview with IGN, Shigeru Miyamoto said: "We're always challenging ourselves to create something new, so hopefully you'll see a new kind of Mario in about a year or two... maybe next E3 we'll be able to share something."

Could this mean a launch title for the NX showcasing a new type of Mario game? We'll have to wait a whole year to find out, but consider us intrigued.
