The Oculus Quest has just started shipping, providing an alternative to the Oculus Rift variant since it has no wires and therefore offers an untethered VR experience, and now nDreams has revealed a game that's making use of that - Phantom: Covert Ops.

This is the studio's first title developed with the Quest in mind (although it'll still come out on the Rift), and has been made in partnership with Oculus Studios, throwing you into a stealth action game where you're an elite operative in a military kayak.

The game is set in 1991 following the end of the Cold War, and you have to infiltrate a Soviet naval base in the Black Sea to check out what's been going on. You can use various weapons and tools to achieve your goal, and remember: silence is key.

"We have been developing VR games for more than five years, and Phantom: Covert Ops is the culmination of all that hard work and learning," said Patrick O'Luanaigh, CEO at nDreams. "I?m immensely proud of what the team has achieved, breaking new grounds in VR immersion to create a stealth action game built around 1:1 interactions, player choice, and an innovative and intuitive on-water movement mechanic."

The game will launch in 2019, and you can check out a trailer down below. Does this look like a good stealth experience in VR?

REVIEW. Written by Kalle Max Hofmann

"In spite of its somewhat absurd premise, Phantom: Covert Ops offers a nice overall package that convinces from an audio-visual perspective."
