EA have confirmed that the multiplayer beta for Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will commence next week on January 14 on PS4 and Xbox One. The beta will end on January 18. It is described as a "public access" beta which is a term that's new to us, but we assume it means it is open to anyone with an appropriate membership on each console.
"Experience exciting new modes, hilarious new characters, and Backyard Battleground - an all-new dynamic environment that connects you to every map and mode, and brings to life more ways to experience the PvZ universe."

Garden Warfare 2 will see full release on February 25 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
