The other day we had the chance to attend to a very special event at Autodromo Vallelunga in Italy, where we drove a couple of Porsches then compared the IRL experience to the simulation offered by the brand new content for Assetto Corsa. It is a real connection between the German car manufacturer and the Italian software developer, and the content is looking (and playing) pretty good so far.

But when we interviewed Sebastian Hornung from Porsche, next to the beautiful and exclusive beast that the 918 Spyder is, we talked both the collaboration in depth and other topics related to the legendary brand, including esports

Hornung confirmed to Gamereactor's mic that "we're now working on the roadmap so Assetto Corsa will be one important pillar" to enter esports, but Porsche will be working with other companies and publishers (and is already discussing with them).

"We noticed that esports over a couple of years have grown from only shooters, strategy and RPG now also into motorsports", admits the Porsche man. "There's a long history in online racing, but nowadays it becomes more popular to really celebrate in a broader audience (also the virtual racing sports)."

Without specific dates or announcements, Porsche is expected to develop its first esports plans throughout next year, with a Porsche team even "possible". How well suited do you think motorsports are to esports?

"It's hard to find the superlatives to describe the feeling you get when sliding around a tight corner with the tire smoke forming an impressive tail behind you."
