During our recent hands-on with Sniper Elite 4 in Oxford (which you can read more about here), we talked to lead designer Paul Wright about a variety of sniper-related topics, including the new multiplayer mode, Control, and how it has been designed to mix things up.

"When we're looking at new multiplayer modes for Sniper Elite 4, the thing that was on our mind was to try and fill in that gap between proper stealth sniping and action, and come closer to the action aspect, but still retain the sniping model; which is why we came up with Control.

Wright continued: "It can be played as a sniper, should you want to play like that, but it's very much a team-based game that encourages a bit more action, more use of items, and mid-range combat. It has quite a good mix, so we're quite happy with that."

Traditional Sniper Elite multiplayer often involves cagey matches, with players sticking to the shadows and taking each other out over range. It's something that has proved popular with a small but dedicated part of their audience, and with Control the studio wants to build on that.

You can read the full interview with Paul Wright here on Gamereactor in the coming days, so stay tuned for that.
