Tim Jones from Rebellion sat down with us at GDC to talk about Sniper Elite 4, the next game in the long-range shooter series which this time will see players sneaking their way and sniping through Italy in 1943.

During the interview, Jones told us about a variety of new features coming to the game, and how they're making sure the fourth title turns out to be what the studio's head of creative is calling "a sniper's paradise."

"Every iteration of Sniper Elite we try and improve it, we try and go further than we did before, and resolve some of the issues we did with previous ones. Every time it gets bigger and better," he told us.

"And this time around we've overhauled the AI and the animation systems, and, indeed, our rendering tech. So we're creating levels much bigger than we've ever had before in Sniper Elite; they're much more open, there's a lot more verticality in there. We're really striving to create, you know a sniper's paradise in each level."

How are they going to achieve this? Jones says there'll be "real long shots available, alongside the closer stealth play that's available for players as well. There's much more tools at your disposal, like traps you can use, ways you can toy with the AI, booby-trap corpses. And lots more interesting ways to take them out as well, whether it's with environment kills, or with stealth kills, melee kills.

"We've got some interesting new bullet cams as well, shrapnel kills in there and explosive kills. There's a whole ton of new stuff that people are really going to get a kick out of I think."

Sniper Elite 4 is due to land on PC, PS4 and Xbox One later this year.
