Despite the fact that we're now three months away from the return of the Overwatch League, a new report by Dexerto has revealed some concerning information about how we will see it make its return.

It was mentioned a while ago, before Overwatch 2 was delayed again, that the 2022 season would be played on a beta version of Overwatch 2. Now, this report has stated that teams still do not have access to the beta edition of the game, despite the fact that the season is expected to be played on it in a few months.

To make up for this, teams have been using Overwatch's Workshop mode to create their own 5v5 set-up, which includes the proposed changes to the characters going into Overwatch 2.

The report also reveals that teams were unaware of Activision Blizzard's plans to outsource the league to have a third-party organisation come in and run its operations, as has been the case for this season of the Call of Duty League.

As Activision Blizzard or the Overwatch League has yet to make any official statement regarding this report, we do have to take the information with a bit of caution, however, with Overwatch 2 being delayed out of 2022, the decision to use the game as the platform for the 2022 season does seem like an unusual one at this point.
