With Netherrealm Studios having released Mortal Kombat X just over a year ago and having supporting the fighter ever since, and with E3 looming, it feels like it might be time for the studio to reveal their upcoming plans.
If an anonymous source that's been in contact with French gaming site Gameblog.fr is to be believed, Netherrealm is planning on doing just that, with the word being that once again the studio is focusing their efforts on DC Comics.
More specifically they say that development of a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us - let's call it Injustice 2 for now - is supposedly under way. Apparently the plan is to reveal the game during this year's E3 expo (June 14-16), and the game will run using the same engine as the excellent and gruesome Mortal Kombat X.
Plausible rumour? Absolutely. It makes sense for Netherrealm to take a break from Mortal Kombat, but nothing official has been confirmed at this point, so roll on E3 and all the announcements coming therein.
