Sumo Digital recently revealed during a private presentation that they are working on a still "unannounced karting game" based on a major IP. However, what that game might be remains unknown as nothing has been announced as of yet. This has led to plenty of rumours, one of which claims it might be a new Crash Nitro Kart game.

But more likely is that it's the third game in the Sonic Racing series, since Sumo made the two previous titles and has worked closely with Sega many times before on games like Outrun and Sega Superstars Tennis. Now someone over at Sonic Stadium with a good track record on Sega leaks (by the looks of it he was the one who leaked Sonic Forces) seems to agree and has the following to say:

"A new SONIC kart racer is in development. Last I heard it was slated for the first quarter of 2018, but it's looking to most likely be a holiday release. However, if my emphasis on Sonic wasn't clear enough- no Sega characters will be joining the fun, this time around."

This is of course far from being any sort of official confirmation, but if the source is right, we'll be getting a new Sonic racing game, although without characters like Alex Kidd, Ryu Hazuki, Ulala or Crazy Taxi. Still, take this with a pinch of salt for now, as Sonic community custodian Aaron Webber recently dismissed the claims on Twitter just before toy maker Zappies suggested something was indeed in the works.

Basically, we don't know just yet but, as usual, we'll keep you posted if and when we hear something.
