While there's no new Lego Dimensions game this autumn and Disney have pulled the plug on Disney Infinity, all of a sudden Activision finds themselves alone on the toys-to-life market with their next game Skylanders Imaginators. Toys for Bob are back developing the game, and the main new feature is that players will be able to create their own Skylanders for the game.

"Since we launched the very first Skylanders game, we have received countless letters and drawings from kids all over the world sharing their vision for their own Skylanders. No matter how in touch with our 'inner kids' we might think we are as adults, nothing comes close to the endless creativity that springs from the mind of an inspired kid," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. "We've turned this year's game into the ultimate blank canvas for kids' imaginations so they can create and play their own Skylanders."

The player will use a new toy type that is elementally aligned called Creation Crystal. Using these you'll also be able to transport your Skylander over to a friend's house to continue playing. There are naturally new figurines to collect called "Senseis". Divided into 10 classes these 31 characters will help train your Skylander, unlock weapons and areas as well as techniques.

Skylanders Imaginators will launch on October 14 for PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One and supports all 300+ toys from previous Skylanders titles.

REVIEW. Written by Graham Bellars

"Each of the stages is full of great level design, wonderful rich colours and tones, and this all combines to help make it feel like a living cartoon world."
