At Gamescom 2016 we talked with Toys for Bob's Paul Reiche and Vicarious Visions' Jennifer O'Neal about the new Skylanders game called Imaginators which is due to feature not only Crash Bandicoot but his nemesis Dr. Neo Cortex as well.

In terms of the new content for Imaginators, Reiche said "ever since we released the first game we've received thousands of letters kids around the world and they're all showing us their designs for Skylanders, so we decided this year [...] to use the imagination of our fans as the innovation and we're letting them create their own Skylanders and that's in the full sense of what a Skylander is. How they look, how they fight, how they talk, what their tagline is - every aspect of their personality and there are so many different ways to create your own character that we think our fans will be able to create exactly the Skylander that's coolest and most interesting."

O'Neal talked for a bit about the inclusion of Crash Bandicoot as well. "As you know it's the twentieth anniversary of Crash Bandicoot so what better time to reintroduce them to a new generation of fans [...] I can play as Crash or Neo and my kids can create their own character and play alongside me and that's what Skylanders is about, bringing families together, playing co-operatively and it's really fun. Crash and Neo have their own level, it's called the Thumpin' Wumpa Island. There's a lot of fun gameplay that's really nostalgic for the player that's played the original Crash Bandicoot games, there's Wumpa fruit you collect, there's crates you smash and bounce on and there's even a really cool area in the level that's like the old boulder chase levels."

Skylanders Imaginators is due to launch on October 14 for PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
