Worry no longer - the teases that have been circulating around the Sniper Elite franchise and its respective developer Rebellion these past few days have all been revealed in a livestream development update. The developer has shown that they currently have four new Sniper Elite projects in the works, all of which are guaranteed to excite fans of the series.
It was all but confirmed that a new and remastered version of Sniper Elite V2 was on its way following the leaked trailer yesterday, however, now that we've managed to get a full look at the trailer, we can see that the game will be enhanced with 4K and HDR features, and will contain all the DLC as well as a host of new playable characters. There will also be a new 16-player online mode and a photo mode to capture all that long ranged carnage. Sniper Elite V2 Remastered launches on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and also Nintendo Switch later this year, although an actual date is yet to be set.
We also got to take a look at another re-release from the series. Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition will be heading to the Nintendo Switch later this year to accompany its remastered predecessor, and the game will be able to utilise motion controls. It includes all the DLCs as well as having a new Switch-exclusive local multiplayer.
The last two projects are being played close to the chest at this point as they are still in development. Rebellion has at least shown that they will be doing a full reveal for an upcoming VR Sniper Elite game later this year, and while we don't have many details, it is claimed to be a standalone game and will be developed in partnership with independent British studio Just Add Water (Oddworld, Gravity Crash).
The last project is the most secretive of the four but as speculated will be a new title that follows in the footsteps of Sniper Elite 4. Unfortunately, Rebellion has stated that more details surrounding this release will not be revealed until 2020, which is fine considering all the new tasty projects that are on the heading our way later this year.
