Remember Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning? It was a fun action-RPG that released in 2012 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 (you can read our review here if you'd like to know more). The game went down pretty well back in the day, but at the same time it never really took the world by storm.
Despite some big names involved with the project (R. A. Salvatore penned the world and lore, and Todd McFarlane helped with design) the lack of major success meant that after the game was launched, the studio that developed it, 38 Studios, eventually went out of business and in the end Kingdoms of Amalur drifted into obscurity.
Some fans had hoped for a sequel, and maybe, just maybe, someone has now heard their cries for help. That's because THQ Nordic has just announced on Twitter that the company has acquired the rights to the fantasy IP:
"We are beyond proud to announce that THQ Nordic has acquired the "Kingdoms of Amalur" IP, among other assets, from 38 Studios."
