THQ Nordic picks up the Carmageddon IP

THQ Nordic has confirmed that it has acquired rights to the Carmageddon franchise, a classic franchise original developer Stainless Games rebooted with Carmageddon: Incarnation and it's refined and updated later edition Carmageddon: Max Damage. Now it seems Stainless Games has given up on the franchise as they decided to off-load the IP to THQ Nordic.

Whether THQ Nordic has any big plans for the franchise or not remains to be seen, but one could imagine that THQ-owned Wreckfest developers Bugbear would be an interesting developer choice for a new entry in the series. When tweeting the news THQ Nordic also hashtagged Handy Games, their German developer/publisher who mainly focuses on mobile content, which could be an indication they have mobile plans for the franchise.
