ToeJam and Earl getting back in the groove on March 1

ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove, the fourth chapter in this roguelike saga, first appeared in 2015 when it hit Kickstarter. After it was fully funded we eagerly held our breath in anticipation of the new game. But the team at HumeNature Studios took their sweet time getting back in their groove and the game was delayed, first until 2018, then to the autumn of 2018, and now we have a new, and hopefully, final release date.

The iconic duo will be continuing their funky journey on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Friday, March 1. The game features, among other things, online co-op for up to four players, couch co-op, procedurally-generated levels littered with random effects like rocket skates and boomboxes, unlocked characters and hats that carry over across playthroughs, a gallery of interesting Earthlings from Hula Girl to King Tut, and all the craziness you'd expect from a ToeJam and Earl game.

"ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! is what I've been wanting to do for the series for over 20 years," wrote Greg Johnson, founder of HumaNature Studios, in a press release, "We've included pretty much all of the original 'old skool' characters and presents, and we have a TRUCKLOAD of new surprises, many of them fan-inspired. I think we've captured the spirit of the original game, as well as a lot of what people loved about game two. I think this is what our fans have been waiting for. I can't wait to see what they think!"
