Creative Assembly has just unveiled a new prequel campaign for Total War: Rome II, and it's set to land on August 9 and will cost £12 / €17 (there's a discount for early birds). Here's a bit of a description about the campaign which will include nine playable factions and a new feature called 'government actions':

The year is 399 BC and Rome is poised for greatness. However, its very existence balances on a knife-edge. Depicting the events that led to the Second Founding of Rome and beyond, Rise of the Republic is a brand-new campaign pack for ROME II in which the fledgling republic must carve out her place in history... or die trying.

Releasing alongside the DLC (although you can opt into a beta version right now if you prefer) is the Ancestral Update, which reintroduces family trees, allowing players to more clearly see the political landscape unfolding all around them. You can read more about that right here.
