A new chapter of Counter-Strike history might just begin tonight, as the Turner-backed $1.2 million Eleague opens its doors. The league is a big gamble for the US based TV network TBS, and is the first of its kind to attempt bringing Counter-Strike esports to broadcast TV audience in the US.

24 teams are attending the league, including 17 of the worlds top 20 (according to HLTV ratings). Teams have been split into six groups of four teams each, and each group has all of its games scheduled to take place during the course of one week.

Heading into action tonight is group A, consisting of Luminosity Gaming, Team Liquid, Cloud9 and Renegades. Given that Luminosity is currently the best team in the game, they're clear favourites to win.

Tonight is the beginning of the round-robin stage for the group. This evening and tomorrow, all teams will play each other to determine seedings for the the group semifinals. Those are played on Thursday, with the group Finals happening on Friday during US prime time.

The round-robin games and semifinals will be shown on Twitch, while the finals will primarily be shown on TV (Twitch will show an an in-game observer feed, but no stage or studio production).

Thankfully for European fans, the group stage games are played at a reasonable hour. Tune in to the Eleague Twitch channel at 17:00 BST / 18.00 CEST to follow the action.
