The most important month in the US in terms of retail sales is November. The holiday season is in full swing and there is Black Friday just before Thanksgiving. Good news for retailers: sales this year have been good.
It was the biggest month so far for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with hardware sales rising up to 11%. The wider industry grew just 2 percent, this because software was down 7%. After Xbox One led sales in October for one month, PlayStation 4 was most sold console in November.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was the most popular game last month in the US. And even if PlayStation 4 led hardware sales and Sony had exclusive deals with Activision, the shooter actually sold better on Xbox One. According to Gamesindustry.biz the game also did better business than its predecessor, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
All the other multi-platform games sold better on PS4. Second place goes to Fallout 4, with the RPG selling 70% more units than Fallout: New Vegas, and 9% more than Fallout 3.
Star Wars Battlefront is in third place and sold 21% more than Star Wars: Force Unleashed. Halo 5: Guardians was the only game to feature in the Top 10 that is available exclusively for one platform. Just Dance 2016 is the only game that also available for Wii U.
