Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf is the latest video game to be based around the iconic Games Workshop IP. The newest 40K title, which was only announced yesterday, is a turn-based strategy game set to be released on PC, iOS and Android sometime in 2014.

We put a few questions to the team over at HeroCraft, to find out a bit more about the title, how it will work, and where they are in terms of development. Answers are by Alexey Sazonov, Oleg Snisarenko, and Sergey Kozyakov.

Gamereactor: How is it working with Games Workshop? What support have they given you?

HeroCraft: It's really great to work with guys from Games Workshop. They are providing us comprehensive support and info about all nuances of such a great universe as Warhammer 40,000. It's very comfortable cooperation.

Has the game been in development long?

We've just started it's about 1 month from the start of development. We had no warming-up period, we've just started working hard from scratch and we all are very excited with this project.

Why the Space Wolves in particular?

Space Wolves are very unique among all Space Marine chapters. They are brutal, they are dangerous, they are wild. We love them for their primal raw power, ungovernable battle urge.

How do you collect the cards? Is it purely through micro-transactions, or can they be earned through gameplay?

We get cards for completing missions, challenges, finding crates and buying them for in-game currency.

How will the free to play model work?

We'll try to avoid features that can be achieved only through micro-transactions. Everyone should have a chance to try all game content.

How do the different cards impact on the action?

There are lots of different card types and they have lots of ways: weapons, equippable items, movement cards, etc. Everything you do with your character in combat - you do it with cards.

What does evolving your cards in the Iron Priest's Forge entail?

While most of cards are evolving directly, increasing their efficiency, there are a lot of cards which change the way they play when evolve. For example, there's a card that gives you a bonus to your attacks within 2 cells (basically these are melee attacks) and you can change it to give the bonus to attacks further than 2 cells away from you (ranged attacks).

Is this just single player? Or will there be multiplayer as well? And if so, will it be cross-platform?

There will be a few multiplayer modes where players will fight for in-game items and compete for ratings. And yes, we plan to make it cross-platform so everyone can play together.
