World Cup-themed modes for FIFA 14 have been held back, with EA keen on ensuring "the best possible experience" by delaying the update containing the new features, for a few days at least.

Two different modes - FIFA Ultimate Team: World Cup (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One) and the friendly-focussed World Cup Kick-Off mode (Xbox One and PS4) - have both been delayed, with the update likely to be ready to be released "in the coming days".

EA said: "Knowing that our players have been so excited for these new modes made it a tough decision. However, as we progressed through final testing we encountered unforeseen issues that would affect all users who downloaded the update, so it's important to address them first before release."

The new modes will include official kits, badges and the World Cup match ball, although you won't be able to play a tournament, you'll need to have a copy of 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil to do that.
