For some reason the Ys debut on Xbox One won't mean the release of the acclaimed Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (which is available on PC, PS Vita, and PS4, also landing on the Nintendo Switch in the summer), as Dotemu has just announced that Ys Origin will instead be coming to Microsoft's console, the original version of which was released on PC in 2006 and 2012, before launching on PlayStation 4 and Vita last year.
The game was praised back then for its narrative edge in the otherwise action-packed series, revolving around a story set 700 years before Ys & Ys II, including demons building a tower to reach humans living in the sky. Fans will be able to play as warriors or mages, and with them they'll have to tackle puzzles and final bosses.
We have a few screens and a new trailer to prepare you for the spring release. Is this the game you'd rather have on Xbox One?
